First off thank you for the tremendous response and for finding a spot in your busy commitments list in joining this meetup. I can guarantee you that we will strive to make it worth your while.
This first iteration is going to set the tone and make it real clear that this is not your "Hello world" type of gathering. It will be ran workshop style with hands on training and with little to no lengthy lectures or presentation.
We will attack this powerful language heads on and the very first piece of code you will write will be quality driven. By the end of this you will:
1- Get a good grasp of many of the essentials constructs of the language
2- Write your first unit test
3- Have a well commented piece of code that you and anyone else looking at it in the future can easily understand.
In short we will start with the good habits and stick with them.
I have to put an emphasis that this will be for a beginner audience, if you have never programmed before or are just getting started or even an intermediate who wants to review the basics, this will be perfect for you.
If you are a seasoned veteran, your inputs will be highly welcomed and there is a lot of room for co-hosting and organizing future events.
The only prerequisites are a fair amount of exposure with HTML and CSS. If you want to follow along bring your laptop along and have an IDE installed. I use sublime text
but you can use anything that makes you comfortable, you just need a software that allows to write code and that does proper syntax highlighting.
I'm looking forward to meeting you all.
