Clean up and build up - Your first mini app

On our previous event we took a quick look at a few building blocks of the Javascript language in a very loose fashion. We will pick up from there by first cleaning up the code and address some of the quirkness of the language. Then we will focus on building our first complete application - a "simple" multiplication tables builder -  which will allow us to highlight a few key components of JS and a general look of the development process. We will also use the Jasmine framework to test our code and ensure we are providing quality, maintainability and scalabilty from the get go.

Once again it is best if you bring your laptop with an IDE installed to write and follow along with the code. The previous material will be posted on github for those who did not make it last time.

Cheers.

I'm sorry I had to leave the class so early yesterday. There was an emergency I got texted about that I had to take care of (it's fine, now). I didn't say anything because I didn't want to disturb the class, which I enjoyed and wished I could have stayed at. I also thank Ady Ngom for generously having the online recap on Sunday.

Did you ever post the code from the first session on Github? The drive that I used last time died so I lost my code. If not on Github I'm sure I can find someone willing to let me copy theirs.

What's the parking situation at Meteor? No BART, so driving in from East Bay only option.

Parking anywhere in downtown SF is bad right now. If you are not coming in until 3 or 4 p.m. you may be fine. I hear some lots around Civic Center are reasonable. (But many have higher prices today because of strike.)

Our building where I live has public parking for $2/hr, $10 max for 24 hours. It is on Mission between 7th and 8th St, which is next to the new Federal Bldg and a stones throw from the civic center. Frankly, it is a best kept secret for parking. Then take the #14 Mission bus down to Meteor HQ.

    Hi,

I work in SiliconValley, and may not be able to make it until 7:15 or so. Would it be worth my while to attend, or would I miss too much by showing up at 7:15? Is there a way to dial in for the first hour or so?

    Thanks!
    Steve

Huge help and great honor to have Meteor host us for this event. To respect the Meteor open source culture and free access to learning this meetup is now free of charge.
Please be diligent with your RSVP, I still need to get a somewhat accurate head count to potentially order food and refreshments. I don't know about you but I'm super excited about this. Find more about Meteor on the link below and send them plenty of air hugs and good vibes :) Cheers,
    Ady

If you need a place to hold the event, the place that I work has a place that's can seat ~150 comfortably, has a projector and PA and I can most likely talk them into letting us use for free. Let me know so I can reserve it if needed.

The room is booked the first week of July, so we're out of luck. Sorry that I got your hopes up. Maybe next time, man.
