April 22nd - David Fekke Presents OWIN, the Open Web Interface for .NET

  • Apr 22, 2014 · 6:00 PM
  • Bank of America

David Fekke runs the node.js usergroup here in Jacksonville and will be discussing the benefits of the OWIN and the Katana Project.

Read below for some background and resources for getting up to speed if you’re not already familiar with this open source technology.

OWIN defines a standard interface between .NET web servers and web applications. The goal of the OWIN interface is to decouple server and application, encourage the development of simple modules for .NET web development, and, by being an open standard, stimulate the open source ecosystem of .NET web development tools.

The OWIN website can be found here -

http://owin.org/

And the Katana Project can be found on CodePlex here -

And there’s a great video on Channel9 here -

It was nice to see some familiar faces, and to meeting some new ones.

I'm back in Jax every few months to see my family. I'll keep an eye out for events when I'm in town and show up when possible.

    ASP.NET rocks!!!

Between David's presentation, the High Frequency Trading discussion, and the bonus presentation at the end one of the best meetups yet!

FYI I will be a bit late. I have a call from 5-6 that I can't get out of. I will get there as soon as I get out of that, and I'll stay late to chat with anyone interested.

@Wayne, we (I work on the ASP.NET team) have been pushing OWIN for sometime now. It will be an even bigger part of our futures.

What's the adoption rate (rought est) of OWIN and how close is this to be standard ? Looking at Spring Framework - everyone's heard of Spring MVC but Spring Roo is a bit more on the periphery
