There are a lot of great solos recorded in the world of jazz (you can hear them on YouTube); compositions & groups to enjoy: MJT+3...a group with a few fine albums; Johnny Smith, a guitarist of top quality, with several fine albums; Sister Salvation, featuring Slide Hampton's amazing Octet; Horace Silver (a living legend...several great albums); Jeremy Steig (listen to his version of So What); Oliver Nelson (Blues & the Abstract Truth, & Sound of Feeling); Gerald Wilson (Eternal Equinox); Betty Carter (My Favorite Things) also her duet album with Ray Charles...many more (stay tuned!)

I'm on board...see you Sat. Now that I have you located, I'll get there early enough to set-up & jam! I hope we get some horn players, too!

I had some difficulty getting there...I was off on the wrong foot, but I liked the atmosphere, and was impressed with the level of playing. Looking fwd to the next one. In Feb, a sax player friend of mine might be joining us (I hope so)...he just finished his stint on the cruise ships, he also plays clarinet. It'll even be better next time! My Real Book is a CD-ROM product, which will need a computer, speakers & a monitor to try out to expand our repertoire, in a quick & easy way.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
