Hometown: Nem sei!
August 31, 2013
I've been listening to jazz since the mid-sixties...saw Miles for the first time in 1969. Then lived in NYC where I soaked up more than my share of music of all sorts, and too much beer. For eight years I wrote a monthly column for JazzTimes. I've been heavily involved with Brazilian music (it's not all jazz, mind you) since the mid-70s and have produced recordings in Rio. I have opinions. I'm lucky enough have lots of friends in jazz, many you've heard of.
Village Vanguard. The Elephant Room in Austin, Texas. Hmmm, both basement rooms. Jazz Alley in Seattle is great...nice sound and comfy enough, lousy food. Jimmy Mak's doesn't make it for me. Sorry.
I'm relatively new to Portland and would like to meet some new folks. Jazz is something I know about and like, but I'm a bit picky. I have a pretty decent LP and CD collection and bathe myself in music all the time.
