How does a classy Sunday afternoon dinner dance sound to you? Let's head over to the German-American Club of Trenton to dance and dine to the sounds of the Monday Blues Jazz Orchestra. Founded in the late 60's and billed as "Not Your Grandparents' Big Band," this 20+ member outfit has been playing all the hits you'd expect with vocal accompaniment by a rotating cadre of the area's best jazz singers.
Last time we attended an MBJO event, I was floored by the the music and especially the vocal talent: Singer Rick Anthony sounds just like Frank Sinatra, while special guest vocalist Katie Eagleson performs with a certain delicate power that gives her her unique sound.
Bring your dancing shoes! This event is heavy on the dancing!
VERY IMPORTANT: Singles are welcome! There's always a few singles at the event looking for dance partners, so no need to bring your own!
Tickets are $15 per person at the door. The entire kitchen menu will be available until 5pm, while refreshments are available for the duration of the event. The menu is very reasonably priced and leans toward German-American specialties.
NOTE: The club only accepts cash or checks - no credit cards!
Although there is no specific dress code, you'll want to dress "at least" business casual; the crowd ranges from those in khakis and a polo to ladies in sequins and men in full suits and ties.
The German American Club is located on the quiet, pastoral side of Trenton. It has plenty of free, on-site parking, and the area is very safe, not to mention pretty. Use this map to get directions to the club.
