I founded JazzvilleNJ.com & this group to promote live NJ jazz. NJ is so close to NYC that many times our jazz scene is overshadowed by the Big Apple. So many global acts had their humble start in NJ. Join us... Catch a rising star!
Too many to mention, but I'll try: Bobby McFerrin, Ella Fitzgerald, Mel Torme, Darcy James Argue and some local performers: Radam Schwartz, Frank Noviello, Pam Purvis.
Well... Gypsy Jazz, Big Band Swing, Ragtime, Dixieland, Retro Swing, Latin Jazz are my favorites, but I'll listen to just about anything jazzy!
I've been to the Newport Jazz Festival a few times since 2007. Always some great acts performing there! I've also seen bassist Ben Allison & former US Poet Laureate Robert Pinsky perform a set of improvised jazz/poetry pieces. What an incredible show! Here's a taste of the Allison/Pinsky performance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDkRE_i5jHs
Absolutely! I'm the one holding the tables!
Fun people who enjoy experiencing live, local jazz together. Live music is best!
