Game Meet-up ONE

Hey all,

This will be our first meet-up. It looks like Water House Foods. If things go long we can always move.  I am also open to suggestions for other times.

Really enjoyed our time together, and it was great to meet you guys.

    My thoughts on James' comments...
    1. Once every couple of weeks would be great, but realistically I don't know if I will be able to make more than once a month unless I start holding some meetups at my house.
    2. The time frame worked well for me. I also wouldn't mind pushing it back later and extending beyond through supper.
    3. Good idea to have just a couple people responsible for bringing the games. That way, we make sure that everyone will get to play some of their favorites. While, we all seem to enjoy a variety of games, we all certainly seem to have different preferences.

    Had a great time guys.

    1. I say schedule often, more chances of finding a time that works for everyone.
    2. I'd make sure that my baby sitter could go longer into the afternoon/evening to accommodate a longer day. Starting time, no opinion. Earlier or same time, both work just as well for me.

Thanks for coming everybody. Had a great time. Been thinking of a way to Schedule future meets, pick games, do locations.
    1. What do you all think about once a month? Once every couple of weeks?
    2. Did the time frame work or would it be easier to start earlier, stop for lunch and play through the afternoon.
    3. The other thought is have one quick warm up and two primaries rotating who brings the game.
    Any feedback would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    James

I've decided to ditch Protospiel and join you. I don't know the Lake Mills area to be able to suggest a meeting place. Tyranena Brewing Company invites people to play board games though, but they don't have food. Does Water House have good tables?

Lucas, Did protospiel, DID NOT LIKE IT. But may try again next year.

Glad to hear it... well, sort of. It would be good if it was enjoyable, but it makes me feel even better about my choice to hang out with you guys.

I've got Robo-Rally, Power Grid, and Galaxy Trucker. I also just picked up Serenissima and would love to try that, but I haven't played it yet. Seems simple enough to learn though. Now that I hear some of your suggestions, I'll just throw a number of my games in the van. I really like all sorts of games, so I'm up for anything... Level 7, Wiz-War, and Homesteaders all would be welcome new experiences. I'm feeling all geeked now.

I'm always up for robo-rally, though I don't own a copy. I'm generally not a fan of co-op games, but I'd be willing to try Level 7 Escape if you two are excited about it. How about Power Grid? I don't own it, but maybe Lucas does? You guys ever play Galaxy Trucker? I own it. Very fun. Other games I can bring & teach: Homesteaders, Wiz-War.

Well crap I wrote a note around here someplace. Water house it is. they have a nice setup there and the owner is cool about groups coming in. As far as games go. I thought lightish the first time. I wanted to try a co-op "Level 7: Escape." I know two of us have played robo-rally, that is easy and usually quick. I'm a heavy Ameritrasher but we can try Castles. Either way just bring a game(s).

So, what do you guys feel like playing? Heavy, medium, light? Any particular theme? Ameritrash, Euro, something else? Length of game? Or shall we just all bring a few possibilities? One game I was considering bringing along is Castles of Burgundy, but there are plenty of other games I would enjoy playing as well.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
