    Day 2, 24 May
A windy chilly day today. Spent the day at the Hyatt taking interviews of Rolling Thunder's Executive Director Artie Muller, President Gary Scheffmeyer and VP Joe Bean, for Shadow's publication, Thunder Press.
At 5:00 we rode to the Vietnam Memorial and stopped by Memorials for Vietnam Vets and Nurses, WWI and II, Korean War memorial and ending up at the Vigil where Gold Star Mothers were featured.

    Day 1, 23 May
Although we hemmed and hawed leaving Wed night, the 1st wave left Thurs under the threat of heavy rain. Gathered at the Clara Barton rest stop at 8:30, the kick stands were up by 9am. Thankfully we did not get wet and arrived at the Hyatt around 1.
After a nice long nap, we headed to our favorite sports bar and chowed down.

If anyone needs a place to stay, NJ CH III is staying again at the Crowne Plaza, Tysons Corner Va. It's about a ten minute ride to the Pentagon. The rate is $99 a room, (two beds or one), breakfast buffet and covered parking included. We've stayed here a few times and it's real nice, indoor pool, bar b que on Sat night, bar/lounge on premise. Right across from Tysons Galleria Mall with plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Highly reccomend this place.

Its not that its that pricey but 4 days puts it at $500 & that can hurt my wallet, if there treating you guys good then thats all that counts!
Since losing my leg im always thinking of ways that i can use my disability to help veterans and people that are in need of some kind of help, i was swamped with my fema work during "sandy"
When it comes to spending $500 or more id rather donate it to a charity or someone in need! But that being said me and ellen may still do this and follow with you! Ill let you know as soon as we can make our plans for her bedridden mom and the kids!

Rolling Thunder has been treated very well by this Hotel which is why we use them every year. I don't know if they have been asked the questions you brought up nor do I care. If you think the cost is too pricey, check out other area hotels.

Actually the 911 memorial ride in sept last year. I don't know the actual results to what happend & I wasn't able to join that ride:( I was I between bikes at that point

So $480 for 4 nights? Ouch, is the hotel donating any of the room fees to the pow/mia, esoecially the rooms rented by people/veterans gor this event ??
That would be a great gesture if they where to do that!!
Actually do you know if anybody has asked the hotel if they would do that? If not id be willing to ask them i mean afterall there renting out a lot of rooms for this event and afterall they have options.
What do you think? From what i understand cheeseburger/cheeseburger was supposed to donate 1/2 of there profits and backed out after the event!! Whitch is the sleazyiest
Thing ive heard of especially after the pow brought in over 2200
People!! Well if they did do that and if thats why there out of business they got what they deserved!

  • ehollenback

    January 4, 2013

    • Frank

Yes Mark, ASAP... The RT rate is[masked] per night. I had to pay up front for 1 night refundable if I cancel I think the end of April but you best check with them.

      January 4, 2013

I ride down with my Chapter on Thursday 23 May 2013 and ride home with them on the following Monday. Thursday we check into the Hyatt. The main event is Sunday where Bikers nationwide arrive into the Pentagon's parking lot between 8am and 11:30 am . My Chapter's job is to park bikes [ IE guide each Biker to their respective slot. To do that, we arrive at the pentagon between 4:30am and 5.

      January 4, 2013

    • Frank

If your're coming, you decide what day you're coming if not on that Thurs. If you want to ride down on Thurs to spend 4 nights in DC you can ride down with my Chapter. We stage at the Clara Barton rest stop on the TNPK at 9am Thurs. Whatever, make your reservations now. If you're going to stay at the Hyatt, tell them you're with Rolling Thunder. BTW if you ride up front with us to the Vietnam Memorial, you have to help us park bikes. If not, you will be parked with the general population whenever you arrive before 11:30am.
