Happy Holidays!

Woodland Hills, CA 91367
6-9pm

Join us, as we celebrate the winter holidays with warm spirits! In commemoration of the miracle of Chanukah (see "Today in Jewish History" for Kislev 25) we kindle the Chanukah lights -- oil lamps or candles -- each evening of the eight-day festival, increasing the number of lights each evening. On the 22nd of December, 2011 we kindle three lights, plus the Shamash candle. Who knows an interesting story about this Shamash candle? [hint, the answer is linked the meaning of the verbs "to use" or "light" or "serve" or "as bright as sunshine!!!" and such similar stories and jokes will be shared during the party!] (In the Jewish calendar, the day begins at nightfall; therefore it will commence the third day of Chanukah which is actally Friday but it begins Thursday, close to night fall). Tuesday was the "eve" of the first Day of Hanukkah, one candle lit plus the Shamash candle, Wednesday was the first "day" of Hanukkah this year...

Please join us at fill in the blank?'s house for a kosher vegan lunch or dinner on December 25. Those responding YES will be emailed the further details. We will celebrate the holiday season, enjoy great vegan food, and have engaging conversation. As many guests as you are comfortable with would be honored to accept your kind offer to celebrate this occasion together. Would you also consider bringing a Kosher Vegan dish pot-luck style? Please RSVP as soon as possible.

We look forward to having fun in our gathering! See you this Thursday! =)

What we will be sharing so far (email your ideas and wishes for this pot luck, please as soon as possible, to help coordinate it)...

-spinach
-water
-juice
-latkes
-artichoke
-rum balls (with walnuts)
-veggie patties

Blessings,
Janine
