Seattle Raspberry Pi Meetup

The Seattle Raspberry Pi Meetup is sponsored by Jigsaw Renaissance, a non-profit maker space housed in Inscape Arts building just south of Uwajimaya in Seattle's International District. This meetup is for all things Raspberry Pi. Jigsaw Renaissance provides a meeting space for enthusiasts to meet and work on projects with other beginners and experts. Speakers and specific learning topics will be as often as possible. Events are free, though donations to keep Jigsaw Renaissance operating are gladly accepted. People from all backgrounds, interests, and walks of life are encouraged to attend. Do not be intimidated if you have little of no experience with Linux, Raspberry Pi, or other techie stuff. Jigsaw Renaissance provides a collegial and inviting atmosphere for people to learn and grow. We’re not endorsed or associated with the Raspberry Pi, but we're big fans!

I remember we talked about a no ip port forwarding service two or three meetups before. I'm wondering what the service was called that allowed creation sudomains to your registered domain...does anyone remember what service that was? Thanks.

Maybe you mean something like using afraid.org as a DDNS and then add subdomains to it.

Got a Pi for Christmas, want to use it with gphoto2 (on an old Kodak) and motion (on a Logitech webcam), but get frequent hard crashes using either, with or without a powered USB hub. Plan to use it at a remote location, so that's a real problem. Board voltage stays above 5v, so conclude it's not the power supply. Any suggestions?

Also, has anyone tried the Pi camera?

I have used the camera, it works well. Power draw is pretty low.

I just ran apt-get upgrade and rpi-update (to 3.10.30+), same problem with gphoto2 crashes. Will watch for the next USB fix.

Motion (a motion detector, mjpeg streamer, etc) is now running with fair stability on my Pi and Logitech webcam. I'll try to take my setup to the Wednesday meeting in case anyone's interested in seeing it. Gphoto2 still bombs, but help with USB problems may be on the way.

I have conflicting commitments. I hope to be at the next one.
