This is a joint venture with the Charleston Robert Lunz Group of the Sierra Club. Car camping at this oceanfront state park in the winter, allows us to view the northern migranting birds that are here, and local sea birds near the shore. Starr Hazard, outings leader with the Lunz Group will be our leader for birding on Saturday morning. Bring binoculars, camera, and dress warmly for this event. Early start on Saturday, Jan. 18, and Sunday Jan. 19, and perhaps some late afternoon viewing, for those who may want to come just for the day.
if you plan to car camp, reservations must be made at the park for camping. Reservations can be made by calling:[masked] or www.ScouthCarolinaParks.com the park's website. There are campsites available for just tent camping (no power/water), and sites for campers who want connections (power/water). If arriving late, check with the park (843)[masked] for the main gate combo. The main gate is locked daily at 6pm. if you wish to drive to the park for the birding only on Saturday and/or Sunday, the park admission fee must be paid upon entering the park. Questions contact:
