All my life, I have had a taste for healthy foods. My mom used to tell the story of my refusing lollipops at the bank when I was little, much to the amazement of the clerks :) I have also always had an interest in nutrition, and almost followed the calling to become a registered dietician, but my life ended up taking a different turn. For many years, I was mostly vegetarian. Last year, after a highly stressful period in my life, I "discovered" Dr. Fuhrman's work, followed by Drs. Campbell, Esselstyn and Barnard, and completed my transition to a whole food, plant-based diet and have not looked back since!
My latest passion is weightlifting! I love the challenge of lifting heavy and the transformation my body is undergoing as a result. I also enjoy spending time hiking, biking, doing anything fitness-related, perusing farmer's markets, cooking, and reading.
No, but I would love to start with a very small plot at some point. I tried to grow a few tomatoes in pots this year, but the experiment failed, due to excessive rainfall, I like to think. I have succeeded, however, in growing two potted pepper plants :)
Absolutely! Anything that keeps me moving and active!
I have always eaten more or less healthfully, so I can't say that I experienced a quantum leap since going vegan, but I can tell that I have much more energy compared to many of my peers and am rarely sick. My doctor says my blood work numbers are "to die for" so there's proof that it is working for me :) On a larger scale, I have come to realize that a plant-based diet just makes sense for the health of the planet as we go forward.
