Hi, fellow DC techies!
If you have missed the announcements elsewhere, DC is having its third regular Startup Weekend (not to be confused with the DC-EDU event a few weeks ago) on November 18-20 at Microsoft's Chevy Chase office. Unlike regular hackathons, the goal of this 54-hour event is to launch a financially-sustainable company rather than simply showing off creative skills. It's also a competition and we've secured awesome prizes from Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, Geekeasy, InfoChimps, and ThinkGeek among others.
The coolest part about this Startup Weekend is that we are a part of the Global Entrepreneurship Week and the Global Startup Battle. This means that the winner goes on to compete with 64 other teams from around the world for tickets to DEMO Asia in Singapore and to show the world that DC isn't only the Capitol Hill, the White House, and the IFC.
The tickets are on early-bird sale ($75) for just another week (http://dcstartupweekend2011-hndc.eventbrite.com
). If you're a student, you can get them for $49 using the discount code STUDENT but we *will* check your student ID at the event.
Feel free to send any questions to me directly.
