Building a startup is not easy. The Startup Jackpot team, as fellow entrepreneurs, knows this all too well. We have struggled with it all. So we created this event to celebrate our hard work, supporting the local startup community, and win no-strings-attached cash through a unique startup competition.

We have lined up an impresser array of seasoned entrepreneurs to speak about topics a lot of us afraid to ask about because we don’t want to look stupid. The speakers include folks from Twitter, Zaarly, Contactually, Smart Things, among others. We’ll discuss the real issues that we all face like failure, finding funding, team building, and gaining traction. Every talk will focus on sharing practical and actionable knowledge. We want every person who attends to leave knowing they learned something useful to implement in their startup.

The second part of the event is a grassroots competition (for idea to early stage companies), organized by and judged by startup entrepreneurs. However, we didn’t want to make a typical pitch competition, where you tell us your idea and why it’s going to be huge. That’s not real! This competition is about telling us, your colleagues your business problem and why/how $10,000 will help solve that problem. The winner will be determined through crowd-sourced voting as will the Jackpot (the funds raised from ticket sales and sponsorship go towards the Jackpot).

We are excited to bring hackers of all kinds together to celebrate DC Tech, learn from each other, and be jealous of that one person who has $10K more in their pocket to launch their business. So please come join us and purchase your tickets at:
