This hike is the first in a group of three events in the Sussex Border Path programme scheduled for the weekend of June 15th – 16th.
There are no places left for attending the whole weekend. But you can do this one day hike as far as The Eight Bells Pub, The Moor, Hawkhurst, and make your own arrangements to get home from there. It is not on any railway line. See the comments below from the hikers who are doing this.
The journey so far…
Section 10 – 16 miles
The end time given for this event is the approximate time of arrival at The Eight Bells, The Moor, Hawkhurst at the end of the hike.
Please read the Three Golden Rules of Joined Up Hiking.
Are you OK with those? All right, then you may continue...
This is a great day’s walk on one of the furthest-flung sections of the Sussex Border Path. We negotiate the rolling hills of the High Weald in the morning and afternoon, either side of a long and very pleasant lakeside stretch following the ins and outs of Bewl Water in the middle of the day. Somewhere along here we will stop for a picnic lunch. We won’t stop in any pub until the end of the hike at 5:30 - 6:00 pm, by which time we will be sorely in need of refreshment.

You must bring a packed lunch.
In addition, if you are coming for the whole weekend you will need to carry with you everything you need for both days including the overnight stay. Make sure that you plan well in advance what you are going to bring and have the right-sized rucksack. If you've only been out with a day-pack before then test what it feels like to walk with this slightly heavier load. There’s not a huge amount more that you need to carry. See the recommended items to pack for the overnight stay.
There is a £1 charge payable to the organizer on the day.
