The Sussex Border Path Section 9 - Ashurst to Wadhurst

  • Apr 21, 2013 · 9:15 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

The journey so far

Section 9 – 14 miles

The end time given for this event is the approximate time of arrival at Wadhurst railway station at the end of the hike.

Please read the Three Golden Rules of Joined Up Hiking.

Are you OK with those? All right, then you may continue...

This is our hilliest walk in a long time. There is a flat three mile stretch along part of the Medway valley early on. Otherwise it’s up and down the rolling hills, getting up to 500 feet four or five times during the course of the afternoon. The total amount of ascent over the whole day is 1900 feet.

After the first big uphill stretch we stop for a pub lunch, and then it’s a great long hike through the woods, fields and meadows, over hill and down dale, with a succession of characteristic Kentish oast houses to spot along the way.

Some general recommendations and tips.

There is a £1 charge payable to the organizer on the day.

Thanks Chris for the magnificent event with a super group.
Overwhelmed with event planning, particularly GPRS surveys having done theodolite & levelling surveys on Civ Eng with architecture degree, Leeds Uni last century & look forward to the GPRS plans. Trust you discovered how I turned a tragedy into success (google "Ashwin in coma").

Hi Bola, I don't normally allow more than 1 guest. However, if one of your friends joins the group for themselves then you'll all be able to come. I hope that's OK.
