The Three Castles Path
This is a long-distance path of 60 miles, which will tide us over from November until early 2014.
Section 2 – 12.5 miles
The end time given for this event is the approximate time of arrival in Winchfield at the end of the hike.
Please read the Three Golden Rules of Joined Up Hiking.
Are you OK with those? All right, then you may continue...
From Crowthorne station we get back to the crossing over the railway line and then we are soon into the Moor Green Lakes Nature Reserve. We wind our way between the lakes and on to the pub for lunch. In the afternoon the landscape becomes more forested and undulating as we cross Warren Heath and continue southward to the village of Winchfield, which boasts the two pre-requisites of a railway station and a pub.
This is for fast walkers only. We walk at 3mph + the whole way, even through the mud.
IMPORTANT RULES for Lunch in the Pub !!
On this occasion you must adhere strictly to these rules, in addition to the Golden Rules above.
1. We will enter the pub by the side rather than the front entrance. If our boots are muddy we must remove them or put plastic covers over them. I will bring a supply of plastic covers.
2. You MUST NOT consume any of your own food or drink either inside the pub or on the benches outside or anywhere that belongs to the pub.
3. You must bring cash to pay for your lunch and drink.
There is a £2 charge payable to the organizer on the day.
Some general recommendations and tips.
