I see the meetup next Saturday. However, since I missed today and really wanted to go, is anyone interested in meeting somewhere like a Panera and helping me get started? I've done other kinds of web development using CMS's.

It seems like you want to learn Joomla! from the very beginning. You can google "Joomla Tutorials" and get websites like: http://www.buildajoom.... There is Tutorials for Joomla 2.5 and 3.x.
On June 7th we will start classes for the newbies.

We had a wonderful meeting today Saturday May 3rd, 2014.!

We will present Joomla! 101 the next Saturday. We are aiming to change the Joomla scenario in the Orlando area, and we have some pet projects to work with.

I'm new with Joomla and got a good start in building my website with my PC laptop and had problems with the PC so I got a Mac Pro laptop. Is there a version of Wampserver for Mac's and what version program's for a new Mac? I know that there are many types of Wampserver but which one? Thanks

I would recommend using XAMPP or MAMP. Both are great. if you get into more serious development, custom build your dev server with the command line. OSX has built in apache server and you can use Homebrew to build out php and mysql installs.
