Carbon Nation - The Movie

On Friday, Nov. 12, the Green Sanctuary Committee at Countryside Church in Palatine is sponsoring the AFD "Movies with Meaning" showing of the new documentary film, Carbon Nation. Carbon Nation bills itself as a "climate solutions" movie, focusing not on the problem of global climate change, per se, but on the shared economic benefits of moving forward and implementing alternatives: "Carbon Nation is an optimistic, solutions-based, non-preachy, non-partisan, big tent film that shows tackling climate change boosts the economy, increases national & energy security and promotes health & a clean environment. Carbon Nation’s optimism and pragmatism are appealing across the political spectrum. While other good films have been about problems, blame and guilt, Carbon Nation is a film that celebrates solutions, inspiration and action." This film will not be in theaters until January, but we will show it at Countryside this week, followed by an internet chat with one of the producers, Chrisna van Zyl. Carbon Nation bills itself as a "climate solutions" movie, focusing not on the problem of global climate change, per se, but on the shared economic benefits of moving forward and implementing alternatives. I recommend seeing the movie, it was kind of scary, but very positive, with an unexpected touch of humor. The video chat afterwards was interesting as well.
