SHALOM and XAPA! (Peace and Joy!--Hebrew/Greek). My name is Brett. A desire for community, an appreciation for true dialogue, a zeal for learning, and a burning interest in Jewish and Christian theological matters inspired me to start this discussion group. I am an Eastern Orthodox Christian with an interest in both Jewish and Christian tradition and mysticism. This group welcomes gay-friendly, theological scholars with a Jewish or Christian perspective. This group is not about being gay, but rather about providing a safe environment for open-minded dialogue between scholars coming from various Jewish and Christian perspectives. If you are a Jewish or Christian scholar of theology, acceptant of gay people, and wish to broaden your horizons through ecumenical, theological dialogue, you are most welcome to join this group. Though a degree in higher education may be helpful to you in engaging in the discussion, well-read scholars without a formal degree are also welcome.
No formal presentations are planned for these meetups. Rather, we all come with what we are learning now through our readings and in our own personal lives and dialogue, trusting in the love we each have for theology and committing ourselves to the emerging process of honest dialogue of which we are all capable as human beings created in the image of El-him. Most likely we will meet in a coffee house.
