ROCKTOBERFEST 1

  • October 18, 2013 · 5:00 PM

Mark, Mario and Skeeter have set up 2 dates in October to host  ROCKTOBERFEST sponsored by The Inland Empire Acoustic Jammers! It will be in the format of a musical variety show made up of sets from various performer and groups.

Those that wish to perform must be a member of the sponsor group or the JDB2J group. A set list must be submitted to Mario by September 15, 2013 to be included in the program.

Initially, we are allowing no more than 4 songs per performer, however, if there are time slots to be filled after all the set lists are in, all the ones who have submitted their list may be asked to revise and create a longer set list if they want to. Feel free to bring as many guest and friends as you wish. There is NO fee for participating. You set list will consist of the order of songs they will be played, who the participating musicians are and how long the entire set is. This information is essential for the organizing committee to compose a seamless program and to ensure that every one that wishes to perform gets a chance to do so. Each performance can be a solo act or a band made up of several people. It's entirely up to you. So get a hold of your buddies from the meetup groups and start rehearsing. Let's make it a night to remember !!!!!!! P.S. this is NOT A JAM, ONLY musicians listed on the set list will be allowed on stage. Let me know what ya'all think!

I had a great time at Galli's, and would gladly play there again. It just took 3 1/2 hours to get there from Canoga Park. It was good to see all the jammers again, and my old friend Paul who only needed 2 minutes to get to Galli's from where he lives. The food at Galli's was great too, I wish I had met the owner who I understand was also delighted by our musical madness. The musical highlight for me was "Seminole Wind" and the great combination of Skeeter's Singing and Mark's Shredding. Can't wait for Rocktoberfest 2!

Pretty good night of entertainment. The bands were very exciting. China Mon, Mark and Mario put a pretty good package together and it seemed that the customers and owner of the establishment were very pleased. They was a ton of extra support on this one as there was a ton of gear transported set up and tore done. Many of the jammers got there early and left very late to help out with this dreadful task. The sound was pretty good through out the night but there were a few small issues. Overall game plan worked out pretty well, but minor issues corrected on the spot. Tan took tons of pictures of the performers and guest as the place really began to rock. The variety and styles of different bands was an awesome adventure to witness.
This was a great pilot program for many jams to come. Can't wait to see what Mark and his special little crew has planned for Rocktoberfest 2
Hats off to all that were involved at making this a successful event. Must do again some time or a bit smaller scale.

The customers at Galli's got treated to a great night of music, played by the wonderfully talented musicians that make up JDBTJ!!! I am so proud of everyone!!! To Mark and Skeeter, once again thank you for your dedication to these outings, and overall success of JDBTJ. Without your tireless help, and encouragement none of this would be possible. Tan, thank you for documenting these occasions! The photos are very artistic and well, just plain old fantastic! What a great bunch of people, how did we get so lucky? And finally.......Mark, you looked and sounded so comfortable up on the stage. I can't wait to see you play again! Rock on!!!!

NOTHING happens without you guys. production assistance: ahh yes. my photographic sniper popping up out of nowhere, double tapping her targets (one head shot, one center of mass) with deadly accuracy in low light levels and from every conceivable angle obtaining 99.9% first round hit probability. good shootin' there, tex!! getcha a case of beer for that one...

whoops i just saw the backline info, so that's great. yes, i am bringing my guitar amp and will get there earlier to set it up onstage, anyone is welcome to use it, as long as they don't save their own presets. i will bring another amp in case the keyboard needs to run thru it.
the IMPORTANT things is we have 2 FEMALE SINGERS who trade on vocals and 1 will play the VIOLIN SOLOS, so please decide if we need 2 MICS or 3

    October 12, 2013

Wow, we got pushed back 2 hours. Let me check with the rest of the band to see if they are up to a 11:00 o'clock start. I was told we had a 9:00 down beat. I'll get back to you all...

The reason for that Blulu, is Galli's indicated to me that they want the energy level to peak towards closing and I know both you and Frankie are capable of that. I just don't want to break up Frankie's set with Catie's Cabaret. That way they can stay on stage and play through both. You'll come in after and give it a final punch and blow the roof off !!!!

      October 7, 2013

  • mark t.

Thank You! this timeslot is great for Release on Demand at 8pm for a 55 min slot. we will fire off at least 10 cover songs, no problem, you will find that we are very organized, and we don't jam on anything.

    please let us know:
will there be a backline of at least drums and bass amp and keyboard amp/or channel it thru PA set up? and 2 Mics with the PA? we use 2 female singers on vocals, and 1 needs to play the violin lead solos thru the mic as well as sing thru it. i can bring my own Peavey vypyr 100 watt amp for myself as guitarist
    fyi our band setup is
    LaLa Vikka - vocals
Rosemary K - vocals, keyboards, violin
    TangMan - guitar
    Rockin Rick - bass
    April T - drums

Hey Mark T, back line will be provided with drum set and bass amp. Double check with M and M about the key board. Most guitarists play through their own amp, so if you want to bring your own, that's fine. Be sure to have it set up on stage before hand so to minimize transition time between bands.

    1) I want to make sure I have been put down for two songs for the RocktoberfestSSS. They are originals. I am arranging for back up. If this won't work, no problem, just say the word.

    2) What's with the attitude, John? Are you on the rag??? All Skeeter did was ask if anyone's contacted Chaparral? What's the big deal? And the 15th has nothing to do with the group as a whole. It's a music get together that Skeeter and I set up at his place with a couple of other musicians so that I could practice my original. Is that okay with YOU??? Come on, dude, lighten up. :)

Due to the fact that we had encountered a slight delay in securing the venue(s), Mark , Mario and I thought it is only fair to allow more time for everybody to submit their songs. Please be advised that the sign up dead line has been extended to Sept 15. The master set list is essential for us to be able to complete our program for the night(s) to make sure that everybody who wants to perform gets a chance to do so. Thank you again for your understanding !

WHY IS EVERYBODY CONFUSED ABOUT THE 15th SEP???????????? It's simply the last day to sign up for acts. IT IS NOT A ROCKTOBERFEST DATE !!!!!!!!!! Mark may have asked you to assist, but I am also sure he understands that the final program depends on what MARK M , MARIO and I can agreed upon. The final programs for either Rocktoberfests event has NOT been decided at this time. Skeeter, please DO NOT make any commitments to ANYBODY at this time as the 3 of us needs to look at the sign up sheet after the 15th and then decide how the programs will look like. I am glad you have decided to help, but please follow the proper procedures as they are there for a reason.

Hmm. I don't see my last comment here. No prob. I've got a short original I think I'll be able to sing/play (it calls for both). I know I'll be so nervous that it will be all I can do to just do that one song. I can give you more detail after I've practiced it with others. It's definitely blues - 5 verses - one of which is sax improv. I need only light instrumentation - nothing fancy: drums, bass, and guitar. I'm hoping to be able to practice it at Skeeter's some time when the jam isn't taking place. I was thinking Skeeter on drums, Johnny on guitar, and Rick on bass. Or whoever is willing to come to Skeeter's. Naz??? I really appreciate whatever participation I can get cuz I know it won't be an exciting song to play for whoever. Please let me know on here, if you are interested. And Skeeter, when will your place be available? THANK YOU.

    August 31, 2013

    • Jennifer G.

I may also do my first original "You Fell For Me." (Those of you who played on it last time, it would be great if you could again.) The new one is called "Where Is My Baby?" and as Skeeter said, we'll be practicing it on Sunday the 15th at his place at 3:00. Johnny, Rick or Naz - can you be there?

Hey Blulu, the reason why we limit it to 4 at this time is because we have the stage from 5pm to midnight and we have been experiencing pretty strong response from both jam groups and we just wanted to make sure everybody that wants to play gets a chance to play. GREAT news! We won the music lotto! The long awaited DATE, TIME and PLACE for the Rocktoberfest is finally here. Not only are we able to secure one venue, we now have TWO ! So, why not double the pleasure and double the fun. Rocktoberfest 1 will take place from 5 to midnight at "Galli's"-a real popular bar and grill located in Rancho Cucamonga right off of the 210 on 18 OCT ( Friday). You will be entertaining not only your own family and friends, but also the general public. Rocktoberfest 2 will be on 26 OCT as originally schedule at our old favorite Chaparral Lanes. I was told that we can have it from 12N to 10p, but I will reconfirm that to make sure there is no time conflict with their regular Karaoke on Saturday nights. So tune your guitars, grab your drum sticks, polish your sax, pamper your vocal chords and join in for two fun filled evenings. Oh, and don't forget to submit your songs so we can included you in the program. Thanks again for everyone's support !!"

An update on the Rocktober Fest. The following guidelines were adopted after a formal announcement at last Saturday's jam. 1. Set lists are to be submitted by 31 AUG to be included in the program. 2. Set list contain no more than 4 songs at this time. This may change depending on the response and exactly how long we get to use the venue. 3. Each performer is encouraged to seek back ups from fellow jam members for their performance. However, if there are people outside the membership you would like to include, that's perfectly acceptable as well. 4. The target date is still set for 26th OCT. 5. Venue-Mario and Mark have been working diligently to locate one and will be announced to the group as soon as one is determined. 6. We will try out best to avoid any fees or charges for this event. However, if and when it becomes necessary, we hope for all of your support.

Looking at the Calendar in the Meetup site it looks like Saturday October 26th would be a good date. John is this date ok. Skeeter what do you think? I am going to check a club called Margarita Rocks in Upland. A new club. According to the website they book parties. I am going to go there today and look at the layout.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
