ROCKTOBERFEST 2

Rocktoberfest 2 will be on October 26th, 2013 as originally scheduled at our old favorite Chaparral Lanes. Our event will take place from 2:00 pm to 1:30 am. So tune your guitars, grab your drum sticks, polish your sax, pamper your vocal chords and join in for two fun filled evenings! Oh, and don't forget to submit your songs so we can included you in the program. Thanks again for everyone's support!!

One of the first things we would like you to do is have your band check in upon arrival by signing the guest book, we would like all bands performing to arrive 2 hours early if possible.

Please note that each band will have 40 minutes of performance time. We want to minimize movement between bands keeping things under 5 minutes if possible.

The Back line will consist of a fully equipped pro drum kit, a fender super sonic guitar amp, a line six bogner, a line six bass head bass head, Yamaha keyboards, and cabinet, and PA.

Due to the overwhelming turn out of musicians enrolled in this event those of you who choose to bring your own guitar amps and equipment will most likely need to leave that equipment onstage until the closing event, however it does not have to be used by anyone other than you. The organizers team will be available to assist you in setting up as part of the back line between the hours of 11:00 am through 1:30 pm.

Please be aware there is only a five minute turn around between acts so please be respectful and courteous to one another.

NOTE: As with any live performance or event the schedule is subject to last minute changes so please arrive 2 hours early the day of the show before your posted time slot to avoid the last minute shuffle.

Here is the line up schedule:

Well this thing we called Rocktoberfest was off the charts, its all due to the members. I am so proud to be a part of such a community, I cant begin to thank you all for sharing each others dreams and this group has grown so much aside from the magical talent and intensity of the music played last night. There is one thing that that truly touches my heart as I roamed around the room... I witnessed so many smiles and laughter from family, friends and patrons mingling and I truly enjoying the evening. One had to leave last night knowing that there was a little magic we all shared. I wanted to give a special thank you to all the members that helped put this event together and we should all look at ourselves because it was all of us.

That first day it was the three of us (and Rose). First I found you, Skeet, and then Rick. Somewhere in there this guy showed up and said, "I just wanna play loud music." Maybe he shoulda stuck around!

Thank you to all who made this very cool day and nite possible.
Everyone had great time including my two 21 and 23 year old kids. I had to drag them and then they didn't want to leave. See mom knows how to rock and roll still! Thanks to everybody for all the hard work to make it happen.
Moving of equipment, donations of equipment, prize donations,
awesome entertainment and support and enthusiasm. AND let us not forget the dancers!
    I had a blast!

I will never forget Rocktoberfest II!

Everyone brought their "A" game musically, and we came into an unsuspecting bowling alley in San Dimas and kicked some serious musical butt for over 12 hours!!! As I told Mark as we were packing up the gear at 1:30 am, this was our Woodstock, Lollapalooza, and Festival Supreme all rolled into one. Let's do it again next year!!!

  • Jennifer Gordon

My my, Skeeter. Never knew there was that side to you. That's okay. I always say, "Live and let live."
Love you, you hilarious person, you.

FYI: It would take me an hour to hit all those "Good to see you" 's, so, know this: It was good to see EVERYBODY!! (Actually it was great.) Y'all are the best. I miss seeing so many of you since Mark's is so far away. Come to Skeeter's, damn it! Once in a while? Please? Pretty please? Down on my knees and begging please? I love you forever with sugar on it please? Got the message!!?? (BTW, Eileen agrees with me and she's a hot shit bass player and a very nice lady, so you better do what she wants.)

Well; I also have a few pics to add, but I have to sort them first. 85 photos but 50 or so are of family and friends that attended.
Had some great moments. we need to work on a few things. I give this meet up 4 stars..

  • Naz

Practice, practice practice... and look what it got you. Only the best meetup ever! What a show. The most satisfying aspect of all this is watching you guys grow musically. I saw effort, mutual support and commraderie that entire countries should emulate. On a personal note, infinate thanks to my friends Eileen, Kristin, Dave, Robert (Tater) and Mark M for allowing me to play with them. Mountain Drew and Skeetster put us up there with the bulk of the preparation during jams and practices. To this global hippie commune we call JDB2J, group hug!!...

SO MUCH good music, SO MUCH talent - amazing. And all the work by our "support staff" - you know who you are, I hope, ALL of you - which made for smooth orchestration and a super party atmosphere. I was so tired I was ready to keel over but I couldn't tear myself away. Really really incredible. A high achievement that I hope you're all proud of.

SORRY. Did not see this separate Rockt. 2 place to sign up 'til right now. My two songs (orginials): "You Fell For Me" and "Where is My Baby?" They're both short blues songs.
Probably won't be there at the start or finish, but will be happy to help with whatever is needed throughout the jam. If there's anything special, just let me know now or then.

BTW, anybody want a cat? She's spayed, but has only 3 legs.

ALSO, I'm selling 2 of my father's acoustic guitars. One is a Martin D18GE, and the other is a Collings D3. They are in EXCELLENT condition. (He was very picky about his instruments.) If you've got any interest, let me know.

    THANKS

    September 13

    • Jennifer Gordon

She actually isn't MY cat. I recently found her abandoned in front of the library. When I tried keeping her inside, she peed on the bed a number of times. So, now she's an outdoor cat! But I have 5 already, plus a small dog, and really don't want to add her. I'm looking to move and having all these animals is making it really hard. I'm living in a converted garage right now, but want a bigger place: at least a 1 bd with WD hookup and a closed in yard for the dog. Know of anything??

      September 30

    • TAN

I wish I did...I'll keep my ear's and eye's open for you! I'll let you know if I find anyone who can take her in...not sure if 3 legged cat's that pee all over the place are a hot item these days, but we can try, right? =)

Good question Skeeter...bring the video camera! You will be in charge of video production...for at least 2 hrs...right? ::silly smile::

      September 29

  • Mark

Jennifer that's your choice the JDB2J time slot is for any of the members who were wanting to participate but had not gotten an assembly together before the schedule went out, I thought Naz was going to assist you on your tunes, we tried to schedule the event so that members that play with more than one band may stay on stage for a couple time slots, mainly to minimize set up time

    September 28

    • Jennifer Gordon

I see. If it makes it easier I'll play during Naz's time slot. Then if you and Skeeter help out I'm set. But we need to practice both songs! When can we do that?

      September 29

Well; I invite 50 people I know on Face Book and put flyers out at work...Let's get a few flyers up at Chaparral and around town. Maybe we can even get a few sponsors to donate door prizes, give aways and Raffle items. I think I will raffle off a new Takamine acoustic with case...

    September 29
