Join Martha Callaghan, Animal Health Technician with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), to learn about how to care for your chickens to increase backyard bio-security and minimize the spread of disease, including Avian Influenza and Salmonella. Come with your questions (but not your chickens!).

There will be giveaways for people who fill out the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service Survey of Chicken Owners at this workshop. This survey will be available in 4 cities this year, including NYC, to get a sense of the unique needs, challenges and successes of urban chicken keepers. The results of the anonymous survey will be made available as an info sheet that could inform individuals, government services, etc.

Bus: M15 to E Houston & Chrystie;M103 to Bowery & Rivington

J, M to Bowery St Station. Walk east on Delancey, turn left onto Chrystie until Rivington St.
B, D to Grand St Station. Walk north on Chrystie towards Broome, and turn right at Rivington, into park. Garden entrance will be on your right.
F to 2nd Avenue stop (back of the train) to Chrystie St. exit. Walk South on Chrystie Street towards Rivington 2 blocks. Garden entrance is inside Sarah D. Roosevelt Park on Rivington Street across from the playground.
