Re: [Just-Food-City-Chicken-Meetup-NYC] Putting in another pallet order of soy-free, organic feed from Countryside....

Hey Alexandra,

At 20 weeks of age, your chickens should be laying any day now (Most hens start laying between 18-23 weeks). I'd get them on layer feed. I give my hens about 1 cup of feed each and then toss a generous handful of scratch on the ground of the run for them every day to stimulate them to scratch and dig. It's also a really beneficial thing to have in the fall/winter because it helps to fatten them up to stay warm.

Hi Meg,

I'm definitely interested in putting in an order with you!

Do you give your chickens both feed and scratch? Ours are 20 weeks old and we're currently feeding them a combo of feed, veggie scraps, and spent grain (which they LOVE) from a homebrewing friend.

They're not laying yet, so any recommendations on might give them the right nutrients (and where I can get it!) to get ready would be most appreciated.

Thanks,
Alex.

Hey fellow chickeners!

Many of you have already ordered with me before, and I'm sure most of your feed is gone at this point (as is mine), so I am putting in another order for feed from Countryside Organics later this week. If you all would like to order some bags, let me know! They also sell rabbit and cat/dog food too and are cool with adding other things to the pallet so have a look on their website to see if there is anything else you need.

I'm hoping to get prepayment for the feed this time because last time was a bit confusing and I had to chase down some money so if you feel comfortable doing a paypal transaction, I can send an invoice for your order.

As a reminder, 50lb bags of organic layer feed is $25, starter feed is $27 ($18.5 for a 25lb bag),50lbs of scratch is $20. Cost includes freight. Pick up will be at an urban farm in Long Island City, as before. As a suggestion, I only put in an order every 2 or 3 months so if you can stock up, consider doing so.

Please email me at [address removed] if interested.
