False alarm! All hens alive!

Hi all,

Sorry for the alarm...turns out, my ladies must be overly dramatic because they are ALL ALIVE!!!!! :) i would have bet all my money in the world that one was dead, based on the sounds of death last night that lasted for full minutes!   i was too scared to go out to the coop with the flashlight last night, but as it got light i crept closer, only to see the one remaining hen walking around wondering where her friends were!

i think i didn't shut the door enough for the latch to close, and the coon pried it open, so I'm hoping as long as it's closed properly they will be safe from here out.

i feel like an idiot, but a very happy one at that. however, if i hear from someone who would take all three, i'd still consider it.  cause those poor girls must be getting more and more traumatized after every event. (the coon has been around at least 4 times).

thanks all,

Hi all,

Last night I awoke to the sound of one of my ladies being killed by a raccoon.  We've been having issues with them all summer but managed to avoid death until tonight. :(  So awful.

Anyway we rescued two healthy ladies and I need a home for them.  I'm too scared the coon will keep coming back, and I can't bare to hear the sounds of death again while sleeping in my bed.

The are LOVELY, healthy, beautiful, and lay pretty much every day.  They are two red sex links.  They're about a year old.  I kept them all last winter with no light or heat and still got an egg every day.  They love each other - never any pecking or I'm hoping to find a flock where they're less likely to get abuse for being new.   They are too nice for that.  They are also very sweet with humans.  They love greens and yogurt!!!

I'd like to find them somewhere IMMEDIATELY.  The are currently in the little closet under my sunlight, etc.  Not so nice for them.  I have no car but could put them in the cat carrier for pick up, or could take cab for drop off somewhere relatively close (I'm located in BedStuy, by the Franklin C train).

Please email [address removed] if you can take them today or tmw and have a delightful home for them.

Thank you!
