It's a simple problem caused by pecking. Just separate her for 3 weeks.

can you give a better explanation of whats going on with the one with a rear problem?
If its a cut?  or is it diarrhea? is anything coming out of her? Is her vent popped out and bright red?
Most of these things are easy to treat.
if its a stuck egg, then she needs to be in a quiet, dark place and the only thing you can really do is to put oil in her vent and hope for the best. If its a broken egg, the same applies but you may want to give antibiotics. If its a red bulge you want to put preparation H and try to push it gently back in...let her rest and keep applying prep H and it should go down (thats called a prolapse)
Some of these things are very simple...and vets dont always know about corid for cocci or treatment of many usual chicken problems, actually...
if there is a good avian vet in your neighborhood and youve got the money, then go for it. My experience in Ct is that people are getting alot of bad advice or advice aimed at parrots...and worse, aimed at factory farming on a bigger scale with a different aim than we do as backyard chicken keepers.
If you want to try to figure it out, tell in detail what it looks like and maybe you can cure it.
If a chicken is that sick it needs to be in a cardboard box in a warm place, resting.
Im happy to help if you want to fill in the details.

the one with the rear problem could also have an egg that is either stuck or broke - if so that is a very serious problem....I would look up the symptoms and figure it out.

I would try corrid for both of them and the whole flock. you can order it online and get it pretty fast. You dont have to withhold eggs with it and it cures cocci.

Hope vet clinic in Park slope now has a chicken specialist...seems reasonable cost wise too...

Is it coccydosis for the one with the rear infection?  Check the crop of the lethargic one - we had an impacted crop recently and had to feed her olive oil, yogurt and massage it until it loosened and she expelled it she was lethargic and going to bed early when she felt bad....

Hi!

I've had to quarantine two chickens from out community garden and I've got them in my back yard. One is very lethargic and the other has some sort of infection on her rear and the other hens were pecking at her and she was bleeding. Anyway I'll be looking for a vet if anyone has one. Also does anyone have a spare small coop or tractor? I have a dog kennel we have them in overnight. Small is fine. Thanks!
