The farm rescue places are over-burdened with roosters. They have to build separate enclosures for each rooster so they don't fight. It seems as though it's a good solution, but I had a conversation with the woman who runs the one in Woodstock, and believe me, she wouldn't "welcome" a unique breed. She would probably take it if there was no other option for the animal, but it wouldn't be because it's a fun and unique breed.
Have you tried posting to Backyard Chickens? There are farmers and other chicken keepers nearby who would welcome your sweet silkie.
