I think most of the people are going to have fun. . Enjoy company on horseback. .. Ride around play wirh cows and have a hot meal. ...I really was pleased with the whole outcome. . My horses are mountain horses do this is a great new experience for them. .. next time I'm bringing my stang. ..:) hopefully he isn't scared of the cows or we will have a new sport called cows chasing horses. .. there goes Shannon. .. oops lol

I'm sure they will get a system that works best for everyone. It has to be difficult since there is no way to know how many will attend.

Please keep in mind the gal who is hosting the team sorting hasn't done many before and is new to the sport herself, she is so awesome for getting this together for everyone, yes it's trail and error at this point and she is doing a great job!!!!!!!, if anyone has any ideas to help things move along smoother / faster please let me know so I can pass them on to her, she is very easy to talk with & work with & wants to do a good job so everyone is happy and will continue to come out and sort.
I for one am very thankful she is hosting this awesome sport for all of us, and hope their will be a team sorting club here in idaho at some point.
please let keep it positive and give her lots of positive feed back & ideas, so we all can continue to play with cows :)

I so agree with you Dena. The person putting this on is very nice. And it is a lot of work to put on an event. I think she is doing a great job and it will only get better. Looking forward to the next one.

She did an amazing job indeed....maybe she needs help with all the ones that are sorting such as someone that could help sign ppl up or give her a break half time with the timer. One thing I want to say about using the arena though..It is a good that people are training or riding around..maybe there are people in there such as myself that need that time to get their horses used to the surroundings, as well as the arena before deciding to sort. Some people have horses that never been in a arena or never sorted to say the least they should have the option to decide and maybe pay to use only the arena. Just my thoughts.

Who should I talk to if I did want to volunteer & help?

      1 · January 29, 2014

    • Dena S.

Bonnie she has a Facebook page. Bad habits arena. U can contact her there or through her ad on Craigslist

      1 · January 29, 2014

  • Jeri W.

I do agree with sorting participants only. It was evident that some were using the arena for training. All in all that is good, but at a different time.
We got there a little before one and got on the list right away. For those that did as we did, the wait for their turns was not bad at all. We had asked to have our names moved down the list so we could watch.
I love the arena, I just need to move to Parma so I am closer.

      January 29, 2014

I agree!!! she does a great job and very nice about everything!! I have a suggestion that might help with the indoor waiting arena warm up chaos and that is that a helper take the money at the entry and ONLY those participating in sorting allowed to ride. I may be wrong but their appeared to be a lot of people just riding around on stallions (LOL) that were not sorting that I could tell.... and maybe they did pay some sort of entry fee to ride, I don't know, but I would assume at some point there is an "over-capacity" that might drive some people away?? just thinking out loud.

It was at 3K Ranch. They didn't use cattle but there were some on the other side of the pen that Flash was watching while tied to the trailer. I walked him over to get a better look and they took off running but he just stared at them, didn't seem to be scared which was a good thing!

    January 20, 2014

Kathleen, I too, showed dogs when I lived in Calif, and had horses too, but in Sorting there are no "judges" and its so much fun. I showed Dobermans and I loved every minute, hope to see you Sunday

Janie, I have had four Dobies, I love them! I would like to get another some day. I've had three reds and one HUGE black male. He was a Kimbertal (this was years ago when they had a good reputation) and gorgeous!!

      January 23, 2014

i didnt get to meet all the JHA memebers at the last sorting, I hope to meet you all this time, please come up an introduce your self, I will be on a bay with white blaze, i will have on a black top and black jacket with a black western call cap and earwarmer that says cowgirl up in bling on it

    1 · January 23, 2014

    • Janie K.

Dena, we will be there and we also would like to meet JHA members, we will be riding Sunday and don't know yet which horses will be riding, but I am about 5'2, short blond hair, glasses, my hubby is 6'5, white hair, we are the "odd" couple, tall vs. short

This time ppl won't have to stand in line to sort. U will give ur team names at sign up and they will call them out when it's ur turn. This way ppl can ride or eat vs having to stand in line. This may make things a lot easier

    2 · January 15, 2014

    • Janie K.

    1 · January 23, 2014

Kathleen this sport is open to any one and any breed. It is such a fun sport, safe and pretty inexpensive and once you do it you will be hooked. Hope to see you Sunday

      January 23, 2014

  • Janie K.

Thanks for posting time change for Sundays Sorting. Can hardly wait, heard there is another arena thinking about doing sorting but the fees a slightly higher, I think it will be $7.per rider. But it's still cheaper than going to a "movie" and a whole lot more fun. Hope to see you all there. Hope to see the "throughbreds" there again, they were awsome and did a great job with the cattle. SEE U ALL SUNDAY
