Looks like everyone had a great time. We didn't make it as the snow/ice storm the night before scared us off the roads. :( We will definitely make it in March...can't wait to meet all of you, this sounds like such a fun group!

Does anyone have an extra horse that they want led/ridden? My dear friend had to sell her horse recently but would love to go and help someone out with theirs. She is very good with horses. :)

Freydis did you make it? I did not see you there? I got there about 10 and left around 2ish. Sorry if I missed you.

I spent Thursday night in the ER with Aaron and had one heck of a day at work. Friday night it started raining and I figured it would keep raining on Saturday like the weatherman said... never trust the weather man. Anyway, good thing I stayed home, washer broke, dryer broke, 4 month old water heater broke and I had to cut hay bales in half with a chain saw. Go read my FB post... you'll LAUGH... seriously, you will!

Amazing! That was a lot of work to put together and I can not express how much it was appreciated! Thank you and I will definately see you guys next month!

A huge thanks to all the folks who worked hard to put on this fund raiser - It was so educational for our horses (and for us) plus we all had a great time! I highly recommend that you attend the March event! Certainly worth the drive from the Oregon border! Thank you TV Whips!!! You guys rock!

Thanks to everybody that came out and supported the Whips fundraiser despite the slick roads and snow this morning. It is fun seeing so many horses going through all the scary obstacles and doing so good. Makes the long day and all the work worth it. Hope to see you all again in March!

I was so ticked. I could've made it. Went to inspection, they didn't need me to stay so I was home at 12:30! But I didn't plug the truck in last night because I didn't think I could go, so it wouldn't start. Guess in March I'll be taking all three at once. Looks like alot of fun!

The bombproofing was terrific. Kudos to TV Whips for putting on such a well run & organized event. This is the 2nd year that Dave w/ Mariah & myself w/ Sprite have gone. I missed the scarey bubble machine and wish that if the weather is good enough next month that they add dirt bikes. If you haven't been before don't miss it next month

UGH not going to make it after all. The home inspection on the new place got rescheduled to tomorrow at noon and I don't think I will have time before and it is supposed to take at least a couple of hours. So frustrating. Been waiting for this since the last one.

I have signed up but if the weather is to bad I will wait till next month. I don't like pulling the trailer in the wind.

    February 22, 2013

  • Barbara C.

Everyone pray for decent weather!! I can tolerate a little rain, but if there are 50 mph winds & snow, I am afraid that's too risky to haul horses in. :) Keeping all my fingers & toes crossed.

Anyone going to this coming from Star that would have room in their trailer? I'm on Can Ada Rd. I think I'm only going to take one of mine this time (probably the gelding). Let me know if anyone might have room! (I have a trailer, just thought it might be crowded parking lot)

If anyone is heading to the Bomb Proofing Clinic from close to Hill Rd and Pierce Park and could trailer a 4 year old APHA gelding, please let me know. Love to go but do not have access to hauling. Thanks Marnie

I know this is a dumb question because it depends on the horse, but how does the average horse respond to these? How close and loud are the scary spooky horse eating things? LOL I plan to walk mine through, just don't want to have them rearing and coming down on my head! Also, not sure if I will make this one since my hubby is out of town and I won't have his assistance loading. But we'll see. Thanks

Sorry to be the newbie with a million questions, but is it important that we be there & ready to go by 9am...or is this something that we can "get there when we get there" as close to the start time as possible? We will of course make every effort to be timely, but both my friend & I have kids to get up & babysitters to get lined out & we are coming from outside of Parma. I don't want to be stressed out & rushing around if I don't need to be. :) Thanks!

While you can technically get there whenever, it is a very popular clinic, only a certain number of horses can be in the arena at a time, and it's first-come, first-serve. I remember someone did recommend to get there early since the later you get there, the longer you will have to wait for your turn

      February 15, 2013

    • Barbara C.

Thanks for the info!! Will try to get there as early as possible, while not stressing out. :)

Again is anyone coming from emmett area and can pick up one mare?

    February 15, 2013

  • Christine

We never had anything really bad happen or anybody get hurt. There will also be a ' camp with llamas and hikers' outside and a natural obstacle course with rocks; deadfall and water. Just do what you and your horse feel comfortable with. And yes; a buddy horse helps. Keep it fun for you and your horse :-)

    2 · February 14, 2013

  • Cindi

If you go to the photos they are sorted by event and check out the pics from last year to get a better idea of what to expect. Yes, you can walk thru or ride or both. There are people, coaches, at the obstacles if you should need help. Just remember try to relax so your nervousness isn't transmitted to your horse. Everyone just have fun.

    1 · February 14, 2013

    • Sara G.

Thanks for sharing the photos Cindi...all the horses seemed unfazed or curious, none of them bolting for the hills. :)

      February 14, 2013

  • Rebekka P.

I went last year with my long yearling. I walked her through the course. I went with a friend so my horse knew the horse he was riding so we just followed them and it really seemed to help her be more confident. She is a very curious horse anyway. Not much worries her. It wasnt long and we were on our own. This year I am riding my 8yr ar/qh mare who is more a right brain girl. I am going with my riding pal again and with other horses that she rides with regularly. I asked my trainer if I should walk her though but he suggested that the safest place to be is on her back. She could get spooked and land right on top of me or skirt around obstacles that she doesnt want to go through. I can be more helpful and be more of a leader if I am on her. My trainer went through some techniques on how to read her and have a better feel. We will see, I'm nervous, but we will get through it.

As long as my ride & babysitter don't fall through, I'll be there w/ a guest.

Found out this is also a potluck. Sounds like fun

    February 13, 2013

If I remember correctly, the TVW club members are providing the items for the potluck. Last year the potluck was included in your entry fee of $20.

Is this the type of clinic that is offered multiple times throughout the year? My horse & I really need it, but the 23rd is not a good day for us.

okay...I just looked ahead & saw the event in March...answered my own question. Thanks!

Hey guys, I'm looking to sell my mare. She is 8, she's a barrel and playday mare. Great on trails and amazing bareback. Very love able. Not Mare-ish at all. Please call or text for more info. Asking $3200, she's well worth it. [masked]-1137. Appy/TB 15.1hh and 1100 lbs.

I breed a lot of horses, even midwife for some friends, I agree, that this event is way too stressful on a PG mare at anytime, but as far as trailering her, you can do that right up to foaling. Exposure is the same risk, as if she wasn't PG. Mostly right up to the birth is about her comfort level, if she is to be separated from other horses at home do at least 3wks before her due date, this will decrease her anxiety.

    1 · January 21, 2013

  • Jan W.

I am feeling better and riding again! My mare is
8 months pregnant and doing great but would this maybe
be too stressful for her, trailer ride, other horses etc?
I would love advice, I am new at this.

    January 21, 2013

    • Tonya G.

It would be a GREAT thing to bring them both to once your foal has all four feet on the ground. :-)

      1 · January 21, 2013

    • Shermayne Y.

I wouldn't risk taking a PG mare into that environment either. The stress levels sound really extreme, plus you don't want to expose your mare to any diseases, etc.. I've heard that trailering late term mares is also risky.

      2 · January 21, 2013

  • Mardi J.

Would like to bring both of my horses...guessing that's OK.

    January 20, 2013

    • Tonya G.

You can bring as many horses as you like, just gotta pay the fee for each one. :-)

Hope I can keep this date open for me!

I just realized this my big black mare's 4yo birthday, how nice for her, but I don't think this is what she will have in mind for her 4 yo birthday present.
