I do both technical and non-technical writing. The technical writing comes in different flavors - including scientific papers, grants, and grant reviews, all of which have different requirements. The non-technical writing is my own and covers a few different areas, but primarily journaling. I have written quite a bit on the website 750words - this has ranged from reflections on things to thinking on paper to reviewing things that I have read or seen (e.g. DVDs, art shows). I'm excited about being around other people writing, hence my interest in this group. Writing can be lonely and maddening at times. As for future interests, I've long thought about writing a non-fiction book, so this group may also serve to allow me to explore that avenue. Finally, I am interested in the "mechanics" of writing as in effective sentence and paragraph structure.
I do a lot of writing for my day job as an academic at U of C. I've been very interested in becoming a better writer and I have read several books on this topic.
Great group, totally relaxed. A very good way to get your writing going. Some conversation, friendly people.
