What do you like to write? Fiction, non-fiction, poetry, memoir? All of the above? None of the above?

None fiction - about a theory I've been working on for about 20 years. When I write, I get too involved, and find I go off track. I learn a lot, but cannot focus. What I need to write is important, and I believe interesting, but then I scatter. I enjoy poetry writing, and think I've done well with some of my poems. There are maybe only twenty five or so. Humor - yes. Not too many people get it - I'm not sure I do either. I've tried non fiction, and though I start out OK, I get really silly, and things may be getting out of hand.

Have you always been a writer or is writing a new-found love?

Not always, but probably about twenty five years, but don't have a lot to show for it. I figured that since I lose focus rather quickly that I might be good at writing for a magazine, so I started a magazine. I'm pleased with it. Some contributors, and some of my own contributions. Poetry and observations, and essays. I think I may think I know more than I know - who knows? I tend to get philosophical, and when I read, I find my ideas are shared by some of the philosophers of old, and also some of those in the psychology field - like Janov, Freud, and Jung.

Do you hate to write, but have a story burning to be told and don't know how to start?

I have bood to write about something I call theLine. It has to do with analyzing a line to give the essence of a person, and a lot more. Non fiction, and basically based on my observations. I've lectured in a few places around the country, and get some level of acceptance and interest in the theories I would like to write about in a form that would instruct and make connections, and show that nothing exists in a vacuum, but everything relates to everything, only from my angle.

What do you hope to get from this group?

Ways of focusing.

Introduction

I'm Philip Pearlman, prefer Phil. 82 years old, tried to write about 45 years ago, thought what I wrote was great. Re read and found it was not great. Gave it up for a few years, and started again. I write non fiction, some fiction, and poetry
