We are a friendly, diverse, and fun-loving group of people that live and/or work in Canton, Woodstock, Marietta, Roswell, Kennesaw, Acworth and surrounding areas and we want to make new friends (in both Cobb and Cherokee counties and beyond!) who share a love for fun and adventure and who love to meet new people and hopefully establish long-lasting friendships. Our group consists of both singles and couples -- and both are very welcome --we usually have a variety of coupls and singles at all of our events. Most of us are 35 to 60 years old, but anyone is invited to join us. We want to make friends (and we want to help you make new friends) with people from all walks of life. We welcome diversity, individuality, and positive personalities.
We have nature lovers, classic film buffs, dancers, science lovers, and sports fans --members with all kinds of interests and differing religions, cultures, backgrounds, and views. Therefore, we ask that you KEEP IT SOCIAL and light-hearted when you come to our events --no religion or politics at our Meetups, please. We want everyone in our group to enjoy positive, fun events.
We like both indoor and outdoor activities. Among these types of activities we enjoy playing games. Specifically we are big fans of card games such as Canasta (particularly a version called Samba) and Spades. We also enjoy playing both classic and Euro-type board games, Mah Jongg/Mahjong and party games. Other activities that we like to do include going bowling, playing miniature golf, going out to restaurants, seeing movies and plays, attending comedy shows, and mystery theaters. We love attending all kinds of public venues such as wineries and wine-tastings, breweries, team-trivia, Booty Shakin’ Bingo, Texas Hold’em and local festivals.
A significant number of our members also enjoy more outdoor-friendly activities, such as hiking, walking with and without dogs, bicycling, camping, tubing, white-water rafting, zip-lines and canopy tours and kayaking.
Also most of our events are for grown-ups, but some are kid-friendly (river tubing, picnics in the park, lake swimming get-togethers, mini-golf, and more. We will state in the Meetup description if we feel it is a kid-friendly event, and the appropriate age-group for the event.
We are open to new ideas and are always looking for new things to do as a group. Also, being bargain-hunters, many of our ideas come by word of mouth on good deals or by receiving emails from Groupon.com, LivingSocial.com, HalfOffDepot.com or other sources. We encourage our members to provide ideas as well as feedback, on events that they would like see our group do. After becoming a member you will be able to use a Meetup feature called “Suggest a Meetup” where you can post an idea or an event that you would like to see us host or would like to host yourself.
The scale or scope of our Meetups is limited only by our imaginations, and sometimes our budgets. We will plan thrilling Tennessee whitewater rafting and daring zip-line tree-top tours! We will schedule movie nights, holiday celebration parties, theme dinner parties or game nights at someone’s home, meeting at restaurants, or events at other public venues. We will also schedule outdoor activities such as outdoor festivals, trips to wineries or historic sites, picnics in a park, hikes, overnight cabin or camping weekends, and occasionally more ambitious events such as trips to various parts of the country or even international trips – it all depends on what we as a group would like to do and how much participation we get for our planned events.
Now a little bit about our policies and procedures:
If you RSVP for an event, please be courteous and show up! If in the rare instances when you can’t make it, please cancel well ahead of the actual event by changing your RSVP to a “no” with a comment preferably. Please cancel at least 24 hours ahead if possible. If you’re going to be late for an event, please call the event organizer and let him or her know so they can plan accordingly. Don't be a "no-show" --we remove members from the group for repeated 'no-shows' and for chronic day-of-event or day-before-event cancellations.
You will need a credit/debit card as some of our events require pre-payment. (We do make exceptions --ask the host of the Meetup for help if you prefer not to pay with a credit/debit card.)
We are not after the "numbers" of members; we want to be a quality group with engaged, interested members.
When you attend one of our Meetup's, please rate it afterward. Your Organizers and Hosts work very hard creating and coordinating our events. Please be kind --we are hoping for your 5-star rating and positive, fun comments for each Meetup. Your rating means a lot to us. When you rate a Meetup remember you are rating the host’s efforts for making the event fun and enjoyable. For each Meetup venue, there is a separate area to rate the venue. As an example, if one of our organizers hosts an event at a public venue, and there were issues with the venue (i.e. bad service at a restaurant), please do not let your experience at the venue have any baring on the quality of this group or its host’s attempt to plan a fun outing, but instead give your honest rating for the venue so we, as your organizers, can know whether or not to attend the venue in the future.
Set your email settings for our group where you want them (on your profile page) --you control how many (or how few) emails you get from us. And keep in mind, the best way to be assured that you won’t receive any reminder notices for a particular event that you do not want to attend is to say "No" to a Meetup and don't leave any comment about it. We are very sensitive to not filling up your inbox with a bunch of emails that you do not want, but we cannot control all of the “automatic” emails that Meetup.com sends on our behalf; only you are in control of which automatic emails you receive.
We are a strictly social, non-profit, all-volunteer-run organization. We are intolerant of negative drama and/or gossiping behavior. Please bring your positive outlook to all of our Meetups and leave your troubles behind for the period of the event. Not everyone you meet at a Meetup will be “your cup of tea,” but we expect graciousness and tolerance at all times from our members.
This group has a membership fee that amounts to $1 per month paid annually as $12 plus a small Amazon Payment fee of $0.67 ($12.67 annual total). The membership fee helps us offset the fees charged to us by Meetup.com and other expenses associated with having a successful Meetup group. This fee is not due until after you have been a member for three months. This should give you time to attend at least one event so you can meet us and the other members of this group and make sure that Just4Fun is a good fit for you and your lifestyle. For more information about our Membership fee, please see the page "About Our Membership Fee" page after you join our group.
Please feel free to use our message board to post news or ideas you think our members would enjoy, recipes, deals, job postings, etc. We do monitor our messages, so please be courteous. Also, please do not use the message board for business purposes. If we deem a message to be inappropriate for whatever reason, we will delete the message and email the person who posted that message and let him or her know the reason it was deleted.
We are a wonderful place to make new friends, have fun, travel, and adventure. If you look at our past photos and Meetups, you’ll get an idea of how much fun we have together. So, join us --come on along for some laughter and to try something different. Have an some fun with us!
