What is your child's diagnosis?

Systemic Onset Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis

What are your challenges as a caretaker?

My biggest challenges are to balance parenting and work.

What coping tools have you used?

I love my JA friends. We can vent with each other and laugh, too. I also think about how much worse our situation could be. And, helping to raise funds for a cure gives me focus and something to feel like I have a little control over. So much of this horrible disease is feeling helpless...watching her in pain or just not feeling good. Working for a cure is helpful.

Hi, I am mother of Alexandra "Alex" (age 11) and Charlie (age 9). Alex was diagnosed with Systemic JIA right after her 6th birthday. It has been an amazing journey, to say the least.
