Another great activism opportunity is coming up this weekend for KCAC members who aren't able to attend the Friday night Ask an Atheist event in Liberty!
Hundreds of people will be gathering at Mill Creek Park next to the Country Club Plaza for a Women's Equality March at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, and we'll be there. The event will include music, guest speakers, children's activities, booths and displays by various organizations, and a march celebrating the 92nd anniversary of women's suffrage.
We plan to gather near the J.C. Nichols Fountain at 9:30 a.m., wearing our KC Regional Atheist Meeting T-shirts, to show our support for women's equality and to distribute postcards promoting the upcoming Regional Atheist Meet (RAM), scheduled for Oct. 5-7 at the Overland Park Sheraton hotel and convention center. At this event, you can get a fresh-off-the-press, brand-spanking-new KC RAM T-shirt! We’re selling these AT COST for only $10. If you aren’t yet prepared to sport the awesomeness that is a KC RAM T-shirt, your regular ol’ KCAC T-shirt will work just fine!
Saturday's event is sponsored by several highly active local political organizations, including the Greater Kansas City Women’s Political Caucus, the League of Women Voters, the MainStream Coalition and the ACLU of Kansas and Western Missouri, so it's likely that those in attendance will be very receptive to learning about the RAM.
After the Women’s Equality March, join us for lunch at Blue Koi Noodles & Dumplings at 1803 W. 39th Street, Kansas City, MO 64111. Bring the whole family for a day of fun and important political activism on the Plaza!
