Join the Kansas City Atheist Coalition for the 24th annual AIDS WALK Kansas City. Presented by the AIDS Service Foundation of Greater Kansas City, AIDS WALK 2012 is a three-mile walk beginning and ending in Theis Park, located at the intersection of 47th Street and Oak Street, east of the Country Club Plaza.
This is a great opportunity for KCAC to gain exposure in the community and show Kansas City that we have Morals Without Mythology, all while supporting a very worthy cause! Please join us for the walk in your bright blue KCAC T-shirt, and please go HERE
to donate to AIDS Walk as a KCAC member.
All proceeds go to raise awareness and funding for local AIDS service organizations that provide shelter, emergency services, medical care and long-term nursing care to the women, men and children living with HIV/AIDS in our community. Beneficiaries include SAVE Inc., Good Samaritan Project, Kansas City Free Health Clinic and Hope Care Center.
We have set our fundraising goal at $700. This goal could be met and exceeded if everyone on the mailing list gave just $10. Please join us for the walk and donate what you are able!
Location: Country Club Plaza Starbucks, 302 Nichols Road, Kansas City, MO 64112
Join the Kansas City Atheist Coalition as we show our support for Starbucks Coffee Company. The National Organization of Marriage (NOM) recently launched an international boycott campaign called “Dump Starbucks”
in response to the Seattle-based coffee chain’s vocal support for Washington state legislation recognizing marriage equality for same-sex couples.
“This important legislation is aligned with Starbucks’ business practices and upholds our belief in the equal treatment of partners," Kalen Holmes, Starbucks' executive vice president, said in a statement to the Seattle Times
Brian Brown, NOM’s president, announced the "Dump Starbucks" campaign in March after the annual Starbucks shareholders meeting, where NOM spokesmen questioned the board
on the company’s support of the same-sex marriage legislation.
HOW WE PLAN TO SHOW OUR SUPPORT FOR STARBUCKS
Meet promptly at 1 p.m. in the parking garage directly behind the Starbucks on the Plaza. At 1:10 p.m., people who would like to hold signs on the public property on Ward Parkway to show support for Starbucks and send more customers their way will walk over together. Look for people wearing BRIGHT BLUE Kansas City Atheist Coalition T-shirts.
If standing outside with signs is not for you, be a part of the Sit-In Pro-Protest at the Starbucks. Buy a cup of coffee, hang out with other like-minded people and have fun supporting a good cause.
Please wear your organization’s shirts or other gear to support the LGBT movement and Starbucks’ outspoken support of marriage equality. KCAC members, please wear your KCAC T-shirts and then LGBT swag with it.
Feel free to contact Amanda Brown [masked]) or Josh Hyde [masked]) if you have any trouble finding us.
