Does this sound familiar?  In the actual newspaper version it said that this has been going on since 1919.

A Los Angeles Times review of 1,600 confidential files dating from 1970 to 1991 has found that Scouting officials frequently urged admitted offenders to quietly resign — and helped many cover their tracks.

In 1982, a Michigan Boy Scout camp director who learned of allegations of repeated abuse by a staff member told police he didn’t promptly report them because his bosses wanted to protect the reputation of the Scouts and the accused staff member.

Someone in KC wrote this in the opinion section of the paper:
Scouting hypocrisy
Let me see if I understand this. The Boy Scouts of American have hidden thousands of abusing personnel files for more than two decades but won’t let gay children into the organization for fear of harming the members (9-17, A1, “Boy Scouts helped child molesters cover tracks”)?
What hypocrisy.
