Ring in 2014 with a 10 to 12 mile trek across the preserve's nearly 11,000 acres, featuring spectacular Flint Hills vistas (and with any luck we'll have a good visit with the growing bison herd!) The park facilities will be closed for the holiday, however the trails are open to the public 24/7.
Afterwards we'll head for dinner at the Grand Central Hotel in nearby Cottonwood Falls. There are also several great lodging options, from the upscale hotel to the scenic Chase Lake campground, for anyone who wants to extend their stay - contact Renée if you'd like more info.
The TPNP is about 2+ hours from Kansas City. We'll meet at 10:30 AM in the visitors' center parking lot. We can also put together a carpool/caravan from the KC area if anyone's interested.
