Novice Obedience is the second level of competition in AKC Obedience. This class will introduce you to the required exercises for this events. It is a titling event.

This is not a Basic Obedience Class. To enjoy this class, your dog should have a good sit, stay and heel. Some elements in Novice Obedience are performed on leash and some are off leash. It is helpful if you have trained in Beginner Novice Obedience, but not required.

What you will learn..

Novice Obedience (CD)

Heeling pattern on lead

Heeling pattern off lead

Figure 8 on lead

Stand for exam (off lead)

Recall from 40 feet & finish (off lead)

Group sit for 1 minute (off lead)

Group down for 3 minutes (off lead)

You will need to bring: a six foot lead, buckle collar or chain training collar. (No pinch or prong collars) VERY IMPORTANT... A treat bag full of small soft treats.

IMPORTANT: All dogs must have all their vaccinations current including Rabies and DHLPP. Bordatella is also recommended. Please bring a copy of your dog's records to the first class.

The class is six sessions long and requires a $60.00 donation to KCA for active KCA members and $80.00 for non-members. (the $20 pays for your KCA membership fee until July 2013)

Good class, all the dogs did really well. A few gliches to work on, but over all they were great. I enjoy working with this class. Thanks for letting Katy participate in the long sits and downs.

Kai is a good, smart dog. She is very young and as she gets older, she will gain confidence. We never give up, they are toooooo precious. Have to think positive, Mom.
