Beginner Novice Obedience is the first level of competition in AKC Obedience. This class will introduce you to the  5 required exercises for this event. Beginner Novice is an AKC titling event.

This session of classes is scheduled to prepare you for competition in the  Kern County Kennel Club Obedience/Rally trials held right here in Bakersfield on March 29 & 30.

This is not a Basic Obedience Class.  To enjoy this class, your dog should have a reasonably good sit, stay and heel.

What you will learn...

Beginner Novice Obedience (BN)

Heeling on lead using 8 basic Rally signs

Figure 8 on lead

Sit for exam (on lead)

Dog stays in the middle, while handler walks around ring

Recall from 20 feet 

You will need to bring:  a six foot lead, buckle collar or  chain training collar.  (No pinch or prong collars)  VERY IMPORTANT...  A treat bag full of small soft treats.

Fee:  $60 for KCA Members, $80 for non-members.  (the additional $20 pays for your membership through June 2014)  Membership required for insurance .

IMPORTANT: All dogs must have all their vaccinations current including Rabies and DHLPP. Bordatella is also recommended. Please bring a copy of your dog's records to the first class to be attached to your registration form.

    Great class! Thanks for the TDI information, we are going to see if Duke can pass it- I only worry about the distractions really. Hopefully Katie will be able to take it within the next year or so. See you next week!!
