Novice Obedience #1

This class requires previous Basic Obedience. Beginner Novice is helpful but not required.

In this class you will learn on and off leash healing, long sits and downs, Stand for Exam, Recalls, Finishes, and, of course, more Figure 8s.

Training collars are recommended but not required. In addition, you will need a Tab Leash (a leash approximately 3 to 5 inches long depending on the size of your dog) with a clip on one end and a ring at the other end. You will also need 15 feet of string similar to a venitian blind string for bigger dogs and possibly as light as a heavy fishing line for smaller dogs. If you opt for the fishing line be sure to wear gloves.

If you have not already turned in your shot records, please bring a copy of your shot records for KCA to keep.

The cost is $60.00 for members. Non-members will be required to pay Annual dues in the amount of $20 before taking this class.

Good exercises, Pam. Mak enjoyed it more than I thought he would. Makes Mom very happy. Thanks a bunch.

Passed her CGCA, I'm so proud of her. Can't wait to start her first obedience class. I have a horse lunge line, would that work instead of string? My tab leach dose not have a ring on it, while my 6' leach dose. Should I get a large key ring to put on end of tab lease?

Lunge line will be way to heavy. We won't work with this until later in the class. Don't worry about it right now. Bring what you have so I can see it

Hey Pam, we are going to drop out from furthering obedience training for now. We are having quite a problem with Val, he is becoming somewhat vicious. He tried to bite Sherry twice yesterday during testing and then tried to attack one of the men that asked if he could pet him. We don't want to risk exposing other dogs and people to possibly being bitten. Sorry.

She has passed her CGC test, and hoping we are ready for the CGCA test on Friday. But if not, then we will know what we need to work on. This is the first time we have attended a class together.

Nadine if you are referring to KCA's CGCA Testing, our test center is not on Friday, it is tomorrow, August 31 at our Sizzlin' Summer at 1:00pm.

Nadine: If your dog will walk nicely on a leash beside you, not necessarily in heel position but calmly and quietly without pulling you all over the place, it will be o.k. for you to be in my class. Nancy: Valentine will be fine for this class. He's come a long way. We can work with him.

I didn't realize there was a basic novice required first. Now I'm not sure if I should wait for that class, or if we can we join this class without it

Is this class appropriate for Valentine? Or is there a class that more basic that is available?

This is a continuation of Beginner Novice which you just finished. The actual competition is off lead for most of it. However, Pam will start you on lead and you can learn the elements on lead and come off only when you are ready.
