WHAT'S A CASH MOB?
Cash Mobs are the latest strategy to get customers to shop at mom and pop businesses rather than the big box stores. The general idea behind these 'mobs' is to encourage people from all over the community to converge simultaneously on selected independent Mom & Pop shops in order to boost business and visibility in a significant way.
WHO WE ARE: The Kansas City Metro Cash Mob consist of two volunteers that are committed to seeing Mom & Pop businesses in the Kansas City Metro area flourish. There are no fees, memberships, or meetings. Anyone can be a part of the Cash Mob by choosing to show up and support the local business we feature each month. Our goal is to highlight ONE business for ONE hour EVERY MONTH, and get people to shop Mom & Pop Shops (using CASH ONLY) to give them an economic boost, some brand new customers and a lot of exposure in the community. THE RULES ARE SIMPLE: Show up at 11:00 a.m. SHARP with your family, friends and neighbors, plan to spend around $10-$20 (CASH ONLY), meet three new people, and have fun! Our monthly goal is to get the word out in the community and organize a crowd of philanthropic strangers to show up as a mob and support a local mom and pop business.
WHAT WE'RE ACCOMPLISHING: Helping sustain a business we’d like to remain in the neighborhood. Rewarding local entrepreneurs and community businesses. Educating people as to the benefits of spending and shopping with locally owned business.
Spreading the word via social media and rallying your friends, neighbors and community members together is what it takes to make a Cash Mob successful. This movement is a way to help support that dream and help Mom & Pop business in our area thrive.
