Get a GREP! Using GREP styles in Adobe InDesign

What the heck is a GREP?

Have you ever wanted everything inside brackets in a long run of copy to be italic? Or maybe you want to have your company name automatically be changed to red as you type?

If you need some time saving techniques in InDesign, you need to learn about GREP, a UNIX command language that is baked into the program but needs a little show-and-tell to discover its power.

Our presenter, Jim Hinds, Production Director at the Kansas City Business Journal, will explain some GREP basics, look at a few more advanced commands and finish with some real world examples of GREP in action, thanks to questions from Brenda Eggert.

Come and discover the power of GREP and how it can really speed up your work!

This is our first meeting after the "summer break" so come prepared to jump back in!

I had fun video recording Jim's presentation. And while editing the video, I learned more. Video coming soon to a URL near you!

I was experimenting with GREP yesterday after seeing Jim's presentation, and came across this website that helped me experiment with learning the proper regex syntax for the find command -
    Just thought I'd share!

I had no idea these in-the-weeds, nitty-gritty tools even existed in a program I've been using for years!
