What we’re about
Our social group focuses primarily on singles that are 40 something and above (many in 50's and 60's) that enjoy getting out and doing things while making new friends along the way. Some members are interested in finding someone special, but others just like making new friends and enjoy our active community. We are an established fun group with a lot of experience "starting over." We tend to attract quality people you would be proud to have as a friend. Because our emphasis is social and making connections, it's very different from participating in online dating sites or dating services. Some members are interested in actively dating, some are not...each person joins us for different reasons.
A few of our contributing members have become such an integral part of our group, they chose to continue participating after a status change. Alumnae are great inspiration for what the future may hold for other members. It's challenging to leave our friendly and supportive community once you've been a key part of it for years. At the same time, our primary focus is to support the needs of single people by offering a regular schedule of events members can participate in while meeting & mixing. We strive to be the "cheers" of Meetup groups.... a place where you are always welcome and many know your name.
Rules: If you register for an event and find that you are unable to attend, please let us know as soon as possible in advance by changing your RSVP from "Yes" to "No" on this meetup site or contacting the organizer. It is important that each event organizer has an accurate "head count" for event planning purposes and to relay to our event locations. Any member that RSVP's for an event and does not show up without cancelling in advance, risks potential removal or suspension from the group. Due to space requirements, some events have attendance limits and we run a wait list. If you have to cancel, please promptly change your RSVP so that others have ample time to be notified and can fill your spot.
Our goal is to make connections with those you might not meet otherwise (both male & female) and most importantly to have FUN!!!! The more often you come, the more people you will meet! New members join us daily.
We realize that issues may arise in any group from from time to time. If there are complaints about you from individual members for inappropriate behavior, you may risk potential removal from the group. If a member makes you uncomfortable for any reason, we suggest you address it one on one with that person assertively yet tactfully. Also...please keep in mind that some members are new to being single again and are trying to "find their way" among other singles. If vulgar, offensive, or other similar inappropriate behavior is happening through the Meetup site's messaging, please report it directly to Meetup.com administrators for further action. KC Singles reserves the right to remove certain members when we become aware a member is a convicted sex offender or has been convicted of a violent, fraudulent or dangerous crime. We also reserve the right to remove a member based on their criminal record, for safety, or other concerns.
We require that you answer a few profile questions in order for you to be a part of this group and to post a recognizable self photo. Please answer the profile questions seriously. A picture is required so you can be identified at the events. No Lurkers allowed! In addition to a real and recent picture, we ask that you use your real first name. Meetup is about meeting people and people have names, not handles. This is a social group not a message board. While we appreciate the desire for privacy if you want to remain anonymous, this group (and really Meetup period) is not the place to do that.
