In 2013, Salisbury University celebrates the 25th annual Sea Gull Century on Saturday, October 6. A 100-kilometer (64 miles) or 100-mile ride, the Sea Gull Century is a “Best Bicycling in America” event that has been named among the top 10 century rides in the nation by Bicycling magazine. The Ride Magazine has called the century “one of the prettiest big rides in America.” The Washington Post has named it “by far the most popular local century” in the Maryland-Delaware-Virginia region. The “Century” features two routes to better accommodate the growing number of cyclists. The traditional Assateague route features stops at the Nassawango Golf Course, Assateague Island and a stop at the Powellville VFW. The Snow Hill route features stops at Washington High School and Public Landing on the banks of the Chincoteague Bay along with a familiar stop at Nassawango Golf Course. Check out the link and explore all your ride options. http://www.seagullcen... This ride is as flat as it gets. If you have never ridden a century, but have a desire to do so, this is your opportunity to try one of the most enjoyable, easiest and best weather rides available. For those who have never ridden a century, it is much easier if you make it a social event, take your time and enjoy the rest stops.
