Hike Lincoln State Park in Indiana

Mike M will lead us on a hike at Lincoln State Park near Holiday World in Indiana.  Meet at 9:00am at McDonald's exit 0 in Jeffersonville to carpool.  6 mile easy hike. This is Lincoln's Indiana boyhood home, where he lived between the ages of 7 and 21.  We will be visiting the graves of Sarah Lincoln, Lincoln's sister, and Nancy Hanks Lincoln, Lincoln's mother. To get to Lincoln State Park, we will take 64 west to exit 63.  Then we will follow the signs to Holiday World, continue 5 more miles to the park on the left.  Meet in the first parking lost on the left past the gate house.  We will also be hiking in the federal park across the street.  Most of the hiking will be in the state park.  The Lincoln Homesite is in the federal park.

The no-shows missed a really good experience. Very historical and educational. Although there was some wetness on the ground, the sky was water-free during the entire hike!

I was in Ferdinand, IN today and picked up the hiking trail map for Lincoln State Park. I have already agree to hike at Cave Hill Cemetery on May 5. Happy Hiking.
