This will be a kinder, gentler version of your typical "Larry Miller Hike." Larry will stay on trails for about 3/4 of the hike, the other 1/4 of the hike will involve some bushwhacking. It will be about 5-6 miles in length
KISHAW is a non-profit organization designed for the enjoyment of the outdoors, mainly through hiking. Our group consists of single adults of all ages from diverse backgrounds who share the common interest of enjoying nature, while staying active. We offer a range of activities to accommodate people at various fitness levels.
It is our intent to provide a fun way to unwind and to experience nature, to provide a venue through which to meet quality people, and to promote a healthy respect for the environment, as well as for each other.
We hike every Sunday, rain, snow or shine. The Sunday hikes are 5 to 8 miles (2.5-4 hours) in length. We leave the meeting locations between 8:00AM and noon depending on the location of the hike.
We leave at the posted time! It is strongly encouraged to arrive 15 minutes early.
We generally carpool to the out of town hikes, riders should chip in $3-$7 to the drivers for gas. Some parks charge admission, usually the car load will split this.
There is no charge to hike with us, but you are encouraged to become a member after a few hikes. Dues are $12.00 per calendar year, new members are prorated $1.00 per month until the end of the year.
There can be some danger in hiking. Please be aware that you hike at your own risk. The hike leader and other hikers are not responsible for your health or safety. Please dress appropriately with good footwear. Bring enough water to drink and snacks to keep up your energy.
Typically 15-20 people show up for the Sunday hikes (as few as 3 or as many as 40 can show up). Gender mix is about equal and age range is 20s to 70s with most 35-60.
We also have other social and recreational events for paid members, such as canoe trips, camping trips, biking, parties, movies, concerts and plays.
