Bernheim Forest - Jackson Yoe Loop

The hike is a loop that starts at the Jackson Yoe trailhead and links up with part of the Millennium Trail.

Those who would like to carpool to the hike should meet at the Cracker Barrel at the Brooks Exit off I-65 in Shepherdsville at 10:00am.  Once we get thru. the gate, we will re-group at the new visitor center where there are restrooms, water fountains, and trail maps.

The hike will be about 8 miles in length and will be fitness oriented (moderate / strenuous) - but don't worry, we will take breaks.

I recommend that you bring extra water and also a sports drink like Gatorade and a snack or two.

Thanks!

Per there web site, there is a $5 per car entrance fee http://bernheim.org/maps/inside-bernheim/

Thanks everyone for letting Leon hike with us. He loves to trot along with the tribe too! Although he didn't much appreciate the ticks - 8 total, 2 of which got on me - yuck!!!!

Does anyone have a walking stick that I can borrow?

I didn't realized, it is a long hike. I haven't hike for awhile, I should start with half of that time.

Rita, I think you'll be fine...close to about 3 hours duration (including breaks). Just take your time. Usually these groups stretch out - some ppl tend to speed ahead a bit, others take their time and usually hang back....either way, we all look after each other. You'll be in good hands.
