Chilling-out!

We will be camping out on the lawn of a private residence in the heart of the Upper Delaware Valley adjacent to the Upper Delaware National Recreation Area. The weekend plan will basically be to chill!

There are lots of activity options:

  • tubing on the Upper Delaware
  • mountain lake swimming/boating/fishing
  • hiking
  • biking
  • a day trip on the Delaware via kayak, canoe or raft
  • skeet shooting
  • nature walks
  • local acitivities
  • Farming with Kids (http://www.applepondfarm.com/schedule.htm).

Tubing will be either Saturday or Sunday depending on which day promises the best weather. My plan is to create a flotilla of fun to float down the Delaware. I have 3 tubes, a raft, a floating couch island and a floating cooler. Somehow we'll lash'em all together and jump in and and out of the water as we drift along. We'll bring plenty of food and drink. I'm a snorkeling fanatic so anyone who's got the gear and wants to see some beautiful underwater sights, including large fish and massive submerged boulders, please join me. There must be a life jacket within reach for everyone and children should wear one at all times or the rangers will pull us out. I have about 7 adult sized ones, 1 child and 2 kid sized ones so be prepared to bring one if u have.

Whichever day we don't go tubing we'll go to nearby Crystal Lake and Forest Preserve for a light hike, swimming, frog catching and maybe some kayaking.

At some point during the weekend we may hang out in Callicoon, NY. Callicoon has some great bars/restaurants, a farmer's market and The Delaware Youth Center which is a public recreation center in the town of Callicoon that has a pool and playground.

Lets have bbq cookouts each day. So bring what you'd like to cook or u can buy stuff at the local markets.

Please bring drinking water, proper camping and hiking gear and a PFD or life jacket if you have one. We can use the grill, bathroom, shower and kitchen in the hosts house as long as we clean up after ourselves. I ask that everyone respect the facilities of the host and leave them as you found them by treating like your own. If anyone needs to come on an off day/time, contact me directly (via email) for the address of the residence where we'll be staying and where to meet. See you there
