Meditations workshops on the first Saturday of the month

Special Guest Teacher!

Gen Kelsang Chogden, the Resident Teacher of Kadampa Meditation Center Maryland, based in Baltimore, will visit this weekend to give a very special class on meditation and Buddhism entitled, Seeing the Good. Chogden has been practicing Kadampa Buddhism for 15 years and brings true sincerity and humility to her life as a spiritual teacher.  This is her first visit to Pittsburgh.

Class Description:

SEEING THE GOOD

Through looking at newspapers and television and understanding the world situation we see an extraordinary amount of suffering and problems arising everyday. As a result it is easy to become de-sensitized, overwhelmed, or cynical. However, there is another way in which we can see our world which inspires hope, kindness, and positive action. In this workshop, we will explore Buddha’s timeless wisdom on:
Exercising choice in how we view situations and our world
Seeing each persons positive nature and;
Understanding how we are interconnected in a web of kindness from which we cannot separate ourself.

Join us for an inspiring and enlightening afternoon of spiritual teaching and guided meditations.

Cost is $20.

    Looks like I joined a day too late, which is a shame! Will the next one be May 5th?

    Also there is time in each session for some discussion and questions and answers. Hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you have any more questions.

    Hi Vicky! Thanks for your questions. If you would like to meditate on a cushion, it would be helpful to bring your own. The Friends Meeting House supplies chairs but no cushions. I'll bring a couple from Harrisburg, but they may or may not be what you are used to. Nothing else to bring, really. Just a happy mind! The schedule for the day is 1-2:15 teaching and meditation (usually two short meditations of about 10 minutes each), 2:15-2:45 break, and 2:45-4p teaching and meditation.

    I have not attended a meditation session with this group before...I have a few questions: 1) Do we supply our own props (ex: blanket, pillow etc) or will they be available? 2) Is there anything else we should bring? 3) Will the meditation encompass the entire 3 hours or is there discussion as well?

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
